WELCOME TO THE BLUE COTTAGE

You’re not just a guest here—you’re part of the story. As a member of the Society, you’re a part owner of this special little place. Settle in, put the kettle on, and make yourself at home.

This cottage has been well loved over the years. Please treat it with care and leave it just as you found it, ready for the next person to enjoy.

Self Check-In & Check-Out

Checking In

  1. The key is tucked away in a cubbyhole to the right of the door, on the other side of the abutment, hiding under a painted rock (a proper cottage welcome).

  2. The key can be a little stubborn—give it a gentle wiggle. The front door is usually the most cooperative.

  3. Inside, you’ll find a binder filled with helpful information, notes, and contact numbers—your guide to the cottage and beyond.

  4. In the kitchen, there’s a plastic tub with white bags. Please take one. Inside is your weekly bundle: dishcloths, kitchen towels, a scrubbing sponge, and a few cleaning essentials to keep things tidy.

  5. Please bring your own drinking water, sheets, and towels.

  6. If you’re planning a fire, kindling can be picked up at Foote’s Farm Market—they’ve also got lovely local produce and baked goods worth the stop.

Checking Out

Before you head back to the real world, a few small things to help keep the cottage in good shape:

  1. Place all garbage in the bins outside, next to the shower.

  2. Wipe down counters, sinks, and tabletops.

  3. Give the floors a quick sweep.

  4. Using the orange gloves and bathroom spray, clean the toilet (tank top, seat, and lid), then wipe with a damp disposable blue towel.

  5. Say goodbye to the used scrubbing sponge, and return dishcloths, towels, and any remaining cleaning supplies to the white bag.

  6. On your way home, please drop the white bag at the back door of the Concrete House
    (19 Saxon Street, Centreville).

Helpful Hints

  • Keep an eye out for ticks after time outdoors—part of the wild charm.

  • If anything goes sideways, you’ll find helpful contacts in the binder.

  • Leave a note in the guestbook if you can—we love hearing the stories this place gathers.
